The International Baccalaureate program is designed to create world thinkers, problems solvers, and the leaders of tomorrow. In this book, we will be looking at one of the courses within the IB Framework of Courses: IB Physics. This course is offered at two levels: Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL). SL provides a general framework of the course and can be made to span two standard high school physics courses, one offered in Grade 11 and the other in Grade 12.
Whether you take IB Physics SL or HL, an important component of the course is the IA. This is a self-directed research paper. Students get the opportunity to either:
Investigate the outcome of a simulation
Analyse mathematical models used in science, or
Collect data and create a lab report
